Elite Spring/Summer Team Try-outs Being Finalized

The dates and locations of our U13, U15 and U17 teams (both Boys and Girls) are being finalized this month. Be sure to check back here or with your school coach to get the dates and locations.

Our teams have travelled as far as New Brunswick and Idaho to play spring/summer basketball. The season starts in April and extends to the July long weekend in most cases. This program is designed to improve individual player performance and we have 13 former Rangers playing post-secondary basketball in Alberta.

Congratulations to Josh Sparkes at U15 Nationals

Three-year Rangers player Josh Sparkes (Medicine Hat Christian School 2011) was recently selected to the Alberta U15 provincial team. Josh was originally selected as an alternate but was able to get a chance to join the full squad due to a teammate's injury. Josh took the bull by the horns and capitalized on this fortunate chance to play at the Canadian National Championships in Toronto this August.

Josh started every game at Nationals and improved in each match. His best two games included a Pool B semi-final and the 5th/6th match. Josh lead Team Alberta to 5th during their 62-54 win over Team Saskatchewan. Josh had a tounament high 6 rebounds to go with his 4 assists and team leading 20 points.

Josh finished the tournament averaging 14.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg on 43.3% shooting from beyond the three-point line while playing 30 minutes per game.

Josh joins Medicine Hat High School this year and should be ready to make an impact in the tough South Zone 4A league.
