Coach Education

Rangers Basketball Club is a strong supporter of the new National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) design. The new design is based on competency and evaluation and helps coaches gain further knowledge and experience within their chosen coaching age group. The new NCCP program is strongly aligned with Canadian Long-term Athlete Development program.

The Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model is a 7-stage Canadian model, a training, competition, and recovery program based on developmental age — the maturation level of an individual - rather than chronological age. It is athlete centred, coach driven, and administration, sport science, and sponsor supported. Athletes who progress through LTAD experience training and competition in programs that consider their biological and training ages in creating periodized plans specific to their development needs. Rangers Basketball Club sees basketball as a tool to use in overall athlete development.

Rangers Basketball Club will be offering NCCP certification classes to the general public as we become certified NCCP trainers. In addition, we will be holding clinics featuring CCAA and CIS coaches in the future for the public to attend. Please keep returning to our website for further developments in this area.
